SOCIAL BOMBS -PERSONAL POLITICS EP(MINI-CD SHIT & CORRUPTIONRECORDS)
When this record came it was broken and I couldn´t listen to it. I got a new record and that´s I´m really happy that I got because this group feels really cool and fresh even if they do a sort of music which have been around for a long time. I think about groups like Threat,s Drongos For Europe, Infa Riot and that type of groups and you can understand that this is really good. Good if you like fastv traditional punkrock. That there was a band in Sweden which could sound so good. They almost look timetypical and as a mix of 77-punks mixed with early 80´s English punkrockers. (EIGHT/TEN) 25/5-07

THE SOCIAL BOMBS: Personal Politics EP - MCD, Shit & Corruption Records

Pretty melodic punk rock from northern Sweden with a band that called themselves SHIT & CORRUPTION INC. before. How many bands are there really in Umeå? And they all seem to have pretty high quality, so I guess they have nothing better to do up there than hanging around in the rehearsal room.
Sometimes it sound like street punk and sometimes pop punk, but I guess I should stick to melodic punk rock.
6 really good tracks is what you get here. 2007-06-12

THE SOCIAL BOMBS "Personal Politics EP"; MCD/ Shit & Corruption Records; Betyg: 2/5
Umeåbandet The Social Bombs (f.d.

SOCIAL BOMBS Personal Politics EP CD
(Shit & Corruption)
On the cover of this there's a photo of the audience at a gig. If it's from a gig with the Social Bombs or not I don't know. The crowd don't look too excited though and maybe that's why the band in question didn't want to be included? Whatever, that photo don't tell the tale of the Social Bombs anyway as they're quite the bouncy bunch.
Six tracks of up-tempo punk rock with room for sing-a-longs as well as some ska rhythms - all while performing the so called "three-chord-punk". Think Clash, think classic UK punk, think US "pop"-punk, and think it all mixed together. Also add a bit of Sweden as they in the fourth track, "Everything you know", start out with something that sounds a lot like a sped up version of "Slicka uppåt, sparka neråt" by Ebba Grön. This riff is returning throughout the song, but as the rest of the band joins in it's a Bombs song all the way.
Catchy and snotty punk rock that at times are very radio friendly and at other times are giving pretty much everyone a big "fuck off!" I'm pleased with what I hear and I wouldn't mind checking out a few more tracks as time goes by, but this won't go too far past the "pleased"-stage to be honest. But still, there are a lot worse feelings one can get when listening to punk rock. Good lyrics too, dealing with everything from sexism via degrading crap on TV to being annoyed with people in general. Danceable, angry, fun, and serious - it's a mix really.
